The World’s 25 Best Cities to Live In


Are you itching to make a move? Want to know where you should go? There are plenty of amazing places to live all over the world. Of course, each of us may have different opinions as to what constitutes a great place to live. There are twenty five cities on our list, and they’ve been chosen because they are safe, they offer lots of things, they are convenient cities, and they are beautiful to boot. These rankings are from the Mercer 2009 Quality of Living Survey.

    Vienna, Austria: Vienna was ranked as the number one place to live for years, but if fell off the list for a few years due to political issues. But, this city on the Danube with its sunny skies, beautiful architecture and thriving culture is back at number one.



    Zurich, Switzerland: Switzerland is one of the best places to live in all the world, and Zurich is their number one city for best place to live. It’s clean, safe and beautiful.



     Geneva, Switzerland: Another Swiss beauty, Geneva is right on a lake. It’s a quiet town, but has everything you might need or want in a place to live.

    Vancouver, Canada: There’s no spot more picturesque than Vancouver. It also happens to be a great place to live.


    Auckland, New Zealand: Auckland, New Zealand’s most populous metropolitan area, is actually tied for fourth with Vancouver.


    Dusseldorf, Germany: Germany offers some of the world’s most convenient cities. They have made a commitment to making mobility a high priority in their city infrastructure. They have several cities that made the list, with Dusseldorf ranking highest.


    Munich, Germany: Another of Germany’s beautiful cities ranks seventh.


    Frankfurt, Germany: One of Germany’s most industrious and business oriented cities; Frankfurt ranks number eight.


    Bern, Switzerland: Another Swiss jewel. Bern is a beautiful city with an impeccably maintained old town.


   Sydney, Australia: Australia’s most famous town ranks as the country’s best place to live. Sydney is full of things to do for visitors and locals alike, and it has wonderful weather.



    Copenhagen, Denmark: Copenhagen, situated on two picturesque islands, is one of the world’s most environmentally friendly. The water in the city’s inner harbor is so clean you can swim in it. Most people commute to work by bicycle.


   Wellington, New Zealand: Wellington is New Zealand’s capital and third most populous city. It sits right on the water.


   Amsterdam, The Netherlands: Amsterdam is a beautiful city, with canals at every turn. It is also the capital city and the most populous in The Netherlands.

    Brussels, Belgium: Brussels is Belgium’s largest city and its capital. Architecturally speaking, it is also one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

   Toronto, Canada: Toronto is Canada’s most populous city, and the capital of Ontario. 25% of Canada’s population lives in Toronto. It has the world’s third largest theater district, after New York and London.


   
  Ottawa, Canada: Ottawa is certainly much smaller than Toronto, but is arguably one of Canada’s most
beautiful cities. It has been ranked among the top cleanest cities in the world.


   Berlin, Germany: Now a unified city, Berlin is one of the most cultural cities in Germany.


    Melbourne, Australia: Melbourne is the capital of Victoria, and the second most populous city in Australia.


    Luxembourg, Luxembourg: Luxembourg is a tiny landlocked country in Europe. Its capital city, also called Luxembourg, is very picturesque.


  Stockholm, Sweden: Sweden’s capital is one of the cleanest cities in Europe and has some of the best parks.


   Perth, Australia: Perth is the fourth most populous city in Australia, and like most of Australia’s biggest cities, sits on a beautiful waterway.


   Montreal, Canada: Montreal is the largest city in Quebec, and the second largest city in Canada.


  Nurnberg, Germany: Nurnberg is a beautiful Bavarian city, located along the Rhine.


   Oslo, Norway: Oslo is Norway’s capital and largest city. It is also one of the world’s most expensive cities.


   Dublin, Ireland: Dublin is Ireland’s capital and largest city. It is home to spectacular old architecture and a population of just over 1 million people.
